Job Description

A little bit about us: Established in 1998, Malones Taphouse stands as a cornerstone, renowned for offering one of Vancouver's most extensive craft beer selections with over 30 varieties of craft beers on tap. Our commitment extends beyond beverages; we take pride in serving delectable pub fare that perfectly complements our chilled brews.
Head Chef Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and updating food menus with new creations, ensuring variety and quality across different options.
- Managing staff scheduling and labor figures.
- Controlling and directing the food preparation processes and any other related activities.
- Managing ordering, wastage, and cost of goods.
- Hiring and training new staff in the Back of House (BOH) department.
- Collaborating closely with the Marketing Department to execute food-related marketing strategies.
- Collaborating closely with the Human Resources Department to ensure successful implementation of staff recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
- Working closely with the management team to ensure seamless coordination between Front of House (FOH) and BOH operations.
- Fostering a cooperative and respectful work environment among coworkers.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of proven experience as a Head Chef or in an equivalent role.
- Exceptional ability in kitchen management demonstrated through previous experience.
- Previous experience managing kitchens, pubs, sports bars, or tap houses is a big plus.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and monitor progress effectively.
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
- Up-to-date with culinary trends and adept at optimizing kitchen processes.
- Good understanding of useful computer programs such as MS Office, restaurant management software, and POS systems.
- Credentials in health and safety training.
- A degree in Culinary Science or a related certificate is an asset.
